So far, I've made an analogy of my Triumph's 6-cylinder (160bhp), a 3.0l SOHC 24v Triumph/Rover I6 (232bhp), a 3.0l 32v Stag V8 (222bhp), an analogy of my Jag's engine (236bhp) and best of all a heavily turbocharged 4.0l AJ6 making 854bhp!
They've only released I4s, I6s and V8s at the moment, but they're planning on having I3s, I5s, V6s, V16s, F4s and F6s in the final game, with rotaries, W-engines and diesels as DLC. There's a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Buy it, it's kickass.

Do you know if they're going to be on Steam?

I've had a lot of fun with Automation. Good team of guys working hard to get it right. I can appreciate that.

Do they only have engine design running currently? I remember when I first read about this (something like 2 years ago) they were going to allow you to build full on vehicles.

Since I reinstalled Windows, I haven't reinstalled the Automation demo again so I haven't tried out any newer stuff they added.
I think I played up to the first version of the car designer.
I still stay up to date on its news and update but I'm kinda just waiting for the final version to come out. I have had it preordered for a year now (more maybe?) and the game only gets better and better. It's looking great.

Bought it. You guys are going to laugh at me, but I've re-created Crosley as a compact car marque. That's given me a chance to do the last three decades how I would have done them. This includes the Hotshot/Super Sport becoming a hot hatch design, complete with an absolutely insane Group B car for 1984-86, and a pretty neat looking hot hatch for this decade.

Bought it, have a mac, don't want to run parallels. Oh well, don't mind supporting.

I plan on taking BL on the way I'd want it to after the dark days.
Develop Rover into a maker of big British bruisers, Triumph updates the TR6 but keeps styling roughly the same (monocoque, 2.6l Triumph/Rover I6, maybe 24v version), little Dolly Sprint range gets expanded, I6 and 32v Stag, Mini gets the replacement/development it deserves, same with the MGB and MGB V8.
Sorted :)

Not sure what they've added recently, but I'm having a ball with the engine designer. Can't wait until they get V6s in there and I can start making Alfa ones.

They've got an early version of the vehicle designer up and running, but it's unfinished. So far, there's nothing with an engine bay big enough to house my monster Jag I6 :(

Im going to DL the demo when I get home. hopefully my cheapo graphics card will support it, at which point I shall pre-order.

I'm considering something similar, with help though. Instead of AMC going the way it did, Nash and Hudson pick up Crosley, Packard, and Studebaker to fill out the lineup. Instead of being like GM, though, it becomes similar to the VW group.
Crosley=Volkswagen, Hudson=Audi, Nash=Scania (departure from their ending line, but we need a GMCesque group), Packard=Bentley, Studebaker=Porsche, Dusenburg=Bugatti/Lamborghini.
Since everything's geared towards smaller cars, I've concentrated on what I could do with Crosley, ie a hatchback, a small minivan, and a sedan that's larger than what I was aiming for. Once the full game is out, I'm probably going to recruit people to fill out the other lines. For me, though, Crosley is the most interesting because they had a history of being kind of batshit already.

Hells yes we are! Probably a few months away still, as we're actually in the process of moving from Australia to NZ (Partially for cost reasons, mainly because the car culture is so much better there) so that will delay the steam release a bit, but we do want to get on Early Access as soon as we've moved.

I reckon recreating slightly horrific but charismatic marques is going to be a lot of fun once the finished tycoon game bit of things is out. I'm hoping we can replicate enough strikes for BL and enough awful electrics and bad steel for all of the Italians

Yeah, we're a bit lacking in bigger engine bays/large car bodies yet, lots more are coming though

It runs on fairly low end hardware, as long as its a mildly gaming focused graphics card. It WILL look horrible though, as our optimization abilities are far less than those of big budget developers

That's be sweet, although I'd miss all the AMX goodness.
I've got BL laid out rather nicely. Austin creates family cars, and also hot little mini-like hatchbacks to keep their image positive. Focus on 4-cylinder production.
Above that, Triumph creates sports cars and smaller displacement sports saloons. Focus on 6-cylinder production.
Off to the side a little, MG also produces sports cars. Competition breeds innovation and all that. Mainly using Austin's 4-cylinders and Rover's V8s.
Above that, Rover creates larger executive expresses. Focus on 8-cylinder production.
Above that, Jaguar creates the real money cars. Focus on 12-cylinder production (although to be honest Jag's real-life engine progression is good as it is).

So far we've got as far as being able to build a car, put an engine/drivetrain in it and get some acceleration data. Next update in a few weeks brings suspension, cornering and handling tests (based on actual proper physics based driving tests) and a bunch more cool thing like Aerodynamics, Fuel Economy etc.

It sounds like your company and my company would have met on the Group B battlefields during the 80's, and the WTCC fields this past decade.
Other than that, I wish you had been in charge of BL/Rover.
Also; the AMX would probably have been a Hudson development in my company. Call it the Hudson Rambler (happily borrowed from sister company Nash).
edit - aannnnnnd I just realized there's a perfect bodyshell to create the 2014 Hudson Rambler platform.

Bring it on :)
I wish I was too, although their downfall wasn't anything to do with the product design. It was a whole host of factors that combined to mean that their cars were woefully made, and not properly tested before being released to the public.
Real shame.
Still, they left me with a whole host of ideas and parts to cobble them together with :)

The only thing I'm taking from Crosley is an ethos towards smaller cars. Their primary engine for a while was basically 4 tin cans surrounded by more tin. It was originally a cheap generator, when someone decided "Hey! Why not put this in a car?!" Unfortunately for many, that was a good idea to someone.
Then again, their next engine was kicking peoples' asses in the S750 class throughout Europe for the rest of the 50's. I'll keep that.

I don't think they've got mac compatability yet. The only way at the moment is to run windows within your ios.
